| Description: | It took me a year to find my first ferret in Lithuania (just didn't know any breeders and there were not many ferrets in my country). So before even getting the first one, only reading and reading and reading and looking into pictures I already knew that I will be breeding. Started breeding in 2003. Unfortunately my first line ended up having few lymphomas and I had to close it (it is not registered here since it is all closed). Never ever would like to have this experience again, therefore now I carefully keep track of all the offspring my jills and hob produce. |
| Goal: | I absolutely hate that we are surrounded by ferrets that live 4 - 5 years or less. I do believe that ferrets can and should live up to 12 (sometimes even more) and have a potential to have at least 8 years as an average life span for the domestic population. This is my goal, but I am sure one can never achieve it alone unless he or she has a huge stock and that is not my case. Probably this is why I like the idea of this database so much. At the moment I narrowed down to only 2 jills and one hob for breeding whose health records and life expectancy of their ancestors I like a lot. At the current circumstance I do not feel able to work the way I prefer with more. I also have 5 more ferrets as pets. My breeding ferrets are sables and champagnes (sandy). I do not breed white markings, angoras or anything less usual. Prefer to avoid in future as well. |
